Junior Show

Year 9 and 10 Drama and Dance students once again came together to perform the Logan Park Junior Show for local primary schools with an evening show for whanau.

Our play this year was The Emperor’s New Clothes and Other Fashion Faux Pas. It was written by Ms Colbert with a tremendous amount of ideas and ‘must have’ characters, lines and plot points and other input from the students, including wonderful scene writing and character creation from Charlie Milne who also played our Emperor. We eventually had a play about truth and deception, tolerance and foolishness and following your dreams.

We would like to thank all of our audiences for coming to see our show, especially the lovely support from whanau. Proceeds from ticket sales to the whanau show go to the India Outreach Programme. This charity was dear to the heart of our wonderful Kristan Mouat and our Junior Show has had a long history of raising funds for the programme and we would like to continue this tradition in memory of Kristan.

Thanks also to our seniors who came back after exams to help with the show; the wonderful Hugo Todd designing and running lights, the marvelous Sebastian Cumming taking care of projections and sound, Rowan Metreyeon our fearless stage manager and the mighty Quinn Wilson assistant stage manager and wrangler.

For the last four years we have been lucky enough to have the extraordinarily talented Jack Ta at the piano creating and improvising a score for our show. Thank you Jack for your incredible work since you were in year 10 and thank you also for mentoring a new year 10 Junior Show musician, Ken Nguyen. Thank you, Ken, you did brilliantly! Please come back next year!

Thank you too, to the learning support team for once again providing fabulous costumes and props – that Knight’s sword, helm and armour were particularly outstanding!

And a big thank you to our amazing understudies Neve Russell, Felipe Green-Santos and Taman Mladenov. The show must go on – and it did thanks to you!

Lastly, congratulations to all our junior show performers. You are fabulous!
