  • Prepares you for NCEA and Scholarship

Junior Course Structure

Students in Years 9 & 10 study subjects from the eight essential learning areas as described in the New Zealand Curriculum Framework. These areas are: English, The Arts, Health and Physical Education, Learning Languages, Mathematics and Statistics, Science, Social Sciences and Technology.  

All Year 9 & 10 students study a core of:

  • English
  • Science
  • Mathematics
  • Social Studies
  • Health and Physical Education 
Optional Subjects:

In addition to the core subjects above, students choose Option subjects.  In Year 9 students choose six Optional subjects and each subject is for a half-year, except for Languages which are for the full year and count as two option choices.  In Year 10 students choose three Optional subjects and each subject is for the full-year.
