Our Year 9 Mātauranga Māori core class had the special opportunity to visit the Māori Centre at the University of Otago to support preparations for their pre-graduation celebration.
Students helped with setting up the space and learned about the significance of the event, which honours Māori students graduating from the university.
It was a hands-on experience that deepened their understanding of tikanga and the importance of acknowledging academic achievement in te ao Māori.
The visit was both inspiring and meaningful, giving our students a glimpse into university life and the strong cultural support networks available for Māori students. Ka mau te wehi, Year 9!
