Our first Year 10 camp for the year took place at Tautuku in the beautiful Catlins, and what a fantastic experience it was. With stunning weather throughout the week, students from 10IWI and 10IHO were able to make the most of the opportunity to explore and enjoy this special part of the South.
The camp programme was full of challenge, adventure, and learning. Students took part in a wide range of activities including kayaking, abseiling, climbing, group initiatives, bush safety and first aid, fire building, a camp out, and exploring the surrounding bush and beach. These experiences encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones, work together, and build confidence in new environments.
Beyond the activities, camp is always a special opportunity for students to strengthen friendships and get to know others outside their usual classroom groups. Shared challenges, time outdoors, and living and working together help create lasting memories and a stronger sense of connection.
A huge thank you to the staff and Year 13 students who supported the camp through their organisation, energy, and care. Your commitment makes these opportunities possible for our students. We would also like to give a special thank you to Joan, who kept everyone well fed and fuelled for the busy days.
Experiences like Tautuku are a highlight of the Year 10 programme, and it was wonderful to see our students embracing the adventure and making the most of everything the Catlins has to offer.
