The winter sports season has kicked off with a bang, showcasing the dedication and talent of our students!
The Senior Boys 1st XI football team set the tone with an impressive 4-2 victory over Kings High School 1st XI. The Junior Boys 1st XI also put in a strong performance, securing a hard-fought draw against Otago Boys Junior A.
On the basketball court, both our Senior A and B Boys teams demonstrated the fruits of their early training, claiming decisive wins in the Senior A grade. Their commitment since late January is clearly paying dividends. Senior A Boys won over St Kevins 79-44 and the Senior B Boys won 63-49 over Trinity College Snr B. Junior A boys are in Junior A grade and won their first game result was 40-31 over Otago Boys White. Our focus for Girls Basketball is to grow and lift the skill base. We are very fortunate to have two very experienced coaches.
The Junior Girls team won by 30 points in B grade so a good start to the season.
The Netball Senior A girls, stepped up to the challenge of Premier 4 this year, started their campaign with an encouraging win. They won over St Hildas Lightning 25-13.
Meanwhile, our four Hockey teams all experienced close encounters, indicating a competitive season ahead.
The Co-ed combined Girls (rugby) Sassenaches team had a hard fought win over St Hilda’s 47-36. Our girls team had some new-to-rugby players who were supported by experienced players Abby Finch and Lily May Thomson.
Logan Park Badminton program boasts strong participation with seven boys’ teams and six girls’ teams, all of whom enjoyed a solid start to their respective leagues. A fantastic opening week for our winter sports!
