Logan Park High School’s second annual school production hit the stage mid-May to full houses and delighted audiences. Joseph Robinette’s retelling of C.S. Lewis’ classic tale was “magical”, “fun” and “superb” according to audience members as they left Manawa Toi Whakaari.
One audience member, Ren Williamson even stated “Stunning visual effects, amazing prop work and a fantastic cast of actors!” This year, because there were so many talented students that came out for the auditions, not only were there two casts, but the casts had an equal number of shows each. Three full school matinees saw over 800 students from nearby schools attend the performances as well as stay for a special question and answer session with the cast.
“It was a full on show this year,” States Ms. Kolppanen, Co-Director, “the costumes and props needed to have enough depth and detail to suspend your belief, and to feel like you actually walked through the wardrobe doors with Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter.” Actor Ava Brown (Lion Cast – White Witch) said “I had a blast scaring the little children as the White Witch.” While Gracie Fagerlund (Lion Cast – Fenris Ulf) exclaimed “Definitely not a show I’ll be forgetting anytime soon! So grateful to have been involved!”
The show may be over, but the memories these tamariki created over the course of the last four months will last a lifetime. Now it’s time for them to rest and get back to the postponed school work that has been on the back burner for some time.
