Tennis

We had wonderful Thursday weather for our games and the coaching sessions as well.

Numbers are up this year and the students are learning very fast. The coaching sessions especially are really well organised, well run and lots of fun. Well done to all the students and it is great to see that some of you stay on longer to have coaching as well as playing some social games.

In Term 4 we had OUSSA taking over tennis in collaboration with Tennis Otago. This meant a small delay in getting the message to our keen players and the numbers were a bit lower. However those who signed up were so committed and played through to the last week of school. Rain and wind made playing tricky at times which is often the case in spring. The tennis activities ranged from taking part in coaching sessions that were offered by experienced tennis players and giving our beginners a chance to develop the skills they need to have to play rallies and have fun with this sport. In that way, players can think about joining the competition in Term 1 of 2026. The second hour is used to play games and the range of abilities is quite big. All our LPHS players have excellent sportsmanship and can be proud of their progress. Thank you and see you next year!
