As part of our celebrations for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, our Toi Māori class was fortunate to host Jess from Sick Ceramics, who led an inspiring Ukutangi Workshop.
Students explored traditional clay work and created beautiful taonga, learning about the cultural significance of these instruments while getting hands-on with the creative process.
The workshop was a wonderful way to round off a week filled with activities that honoured and celebrated te reo Māori and Māori culture. During the week, students also enjoyed Māori arts and crafts, had the chance to explore traditional musical instruments, shared in a delicious hāngi, and took part in a spirited staff vs. students game of Ki o Rahi.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to making Te Wiki o te Reo Māori so special this year. The energy, creativity, and sense of whanaungatanga across our kura reminded us all of the importance of celebrating and keeping te reo Māori alive and thriving. Ake Ake Ake!
