Tapping into Greatness: Felipe Santos-Greene Represents NZ on the World Stage

A massive congratulations to our own Felipe Santos-Greene, who has returned from Prague after representing New Zealand at the World Tap Dance Championships!

Held annually, the championships bring together the best of the best, with this year’s event drawing dancers from 21 countries and featuring over 1,700 competitors. It’s an intense, high-energy celebration of rhythm, precision, and global talent—an incredible environment for any dancer, let alone a young performer from Aotearoa.

Felipe did not just compete—he shone.

Partnering with Hermione Sparks of Trinity College, Felipe placed 21st in the world for their dynamic duo tap performance, a feat made even more impressive considering the calibre of international competition. He also ranked an outstanding 14th in his age group for his solo performance—a mark of real talent, discipline, and artistic maturity on the world stage.

These results are a massive achievement, not only for Felipe but also for Tap New Zealand, showcasing the level of excellence being cultivated in local dance communities.

Felipe’s success is a testament to years of hard work, hours of practice, and an unwavering commitment to his craft. Representing your country is no small thing—but doing so with style, skill, and poise under pressure is something else entirely.

We couldn’t be prouder of Felipe and all he has accomplished. Ka rawe, Felipe—your school, your whānau, and the entire community are right behind you!
