Jack Canty

My name is Jack Canty, and this year I have the honour of being one of Logan Park’s Deputy Head Prefects. 2025 marks the beginning of the end to my incredible journey with this school, a journey that over the years has given me countless opportunities to explore, discover and grow, both academically and socially.

When I was eleven, my family moved to Dunedin just after the first wave of Covid had ended, and as a young teen who knew no-one, and had no friends or other family in a new and different country, the idea of settling and starting the major process of being a teenager seemed, to be honest, scary. But then when I started at Logan, I found a community that provided an inclusive and welcoming space of learning, one which allowed me to make real friends, and build strong relationships, all while experiencing the complexities of high school, and being a teenager. So coming into my final year at this school, I’m excited to have the opportunity to give back to our community and to help other students as they experience their time at Logan.

If you want to get to know me though, I’m honestly just a bit of a geek. I have a strong passion for movies and I’m always right in the middle of a good book. I also love basketball, and have played in the LPHS team every year to date. When it comes to the future and my goals and aspirations, I’m not fully certain yet, but I know that I want to travel, see the world, and do so with my friends. No matter what however, I’m excited for my future, and am confident that my time at Logan will benefit me no matter what life holds in store.
