Principal's welcome

Haere mai and Welcome to Logan Park High School

Principal.Kia-ora koutou, Logan Park High School is often seen as Dunedin’s Performing Arts school, because of its excellent Drama, Music, Art and Media Studies results. But it caters for all individual talents and interests equally well. In fact over the last three years we have been Dunedin’s and Otago’s top-performing Scholarships school across many subject areas with 58 national Scholarships. We produce as many scientists, mathematicians, doctors, managers, lawyers, linguists, historians, chefs and technicians as we do actors, artists, dancers, musicians and film-makers.

Our students have a proud record of academic, sporting and cultural achievements. Recent Otago secondary school titles awarded have included Stage Challenge, debating, public speaking, Chamber Music, Rock-quest, Robotics and Shakespearean Drama. In sport, students have won titles in basketball, hockey, ice-hockey, bowls, fencing, netball, soccer and futsal. In academic areas, our results in ICAS Maths, English, Science and Informatics, Classical Studies, History and NZ Post Book Quizzes, French and Latin speaking contests have been outstanding.

Logan Park is co-ed, increasingly bi-cultural and certainly multi-cultural, with 33 different cultural groups represented. It’s the real world. We all enjoy the learning and diversity this brings to our school and we celebrate Race Unity Day every year. We aim to be inclusive, motivated and respectful every school day. Imagine arriving at school to be greeted by a chorus of bellbirds from the surrounding native bush…period 1 playing sports at the Caledonian track right across the road, joining the Robotics, Indoor Climbing, Curators or Enviro Clubs….playing in a rock band, basketball or futsal team….as a senior maybe taking a class at Polytechnic or University just minutes up the road for extension work.

Do join us. I invite you to enrol at Logan Park High School and look forward to having you and your whanau become part of our friendly, safe and high-achieving community. Our friendly and well-qualified teachers want to help you to gain your best possible qualifications and prepare you to face the future with confidence.
