On Tuesday July 30th, the Year 12 and 13 DVC classes visited the ACC building in Dowling St, between Queens Gardens and the Exchange.
Naylor Love kindly agreed to give us a tour of the construction site, providing insights into the structure and other interesting parts of the building.
We looked at the modular façade and fire and earthquake safety features, including spring-loaded brackets at the top of internal walls to allow for up and down movement without squashing the wall between concrete floors in the event of an earthquake.
Builders are working from a gigantic 3D computer model to find dimensions and details.
Senior DVC Students can adapt the ideas/impressions they encountered into their own designs – it was a most inspiring visit to the real world!
