Out Damn Spot!

Logan Park High School was well represented at The Shakespeare’s Globe Centre New Zealand, Victoria University of Wellington, Otago Regional Shakespeare Festival 2025.

It was a full day of excellent performances from schools throughout Otago. There was a fabulous festive atmosphere with enthusiastic support for each other among the rangatahi.

Logan Park’s entry was directed by Raheli Yehezkely and performed by Raheli, Finn Trotman-Ericsson, Lois Prior and Eva Reynolds. It was a wonderful, haunting piece based on the famous sleepwalking scene. In their interpretation Lady Macbeth is trapped in a nightmare, confronted by her previous actions in the form of ghostly figures. It was selected as a finalist, from a large field of excellent pieces, to be performed in the evening showcase and was awarded the prize for Excellent Realisation of Text.

Special thanks to Debbie Ericsson who created the wonderful nightdresses for the four Lady Macbeths.

Another nice surprise was to see two former Logan Park students, Jimmy Muir and Rowan Metreyeon who were the festival MCs. Their 2023 performance had been selected from this regional festival to go to the National Festival in Wellington and from there they were eventually selected to be part of the Young Shakespeare Company and got to perform at the Globe Theatre in London. It was great to see them back where it all started.
