Otago Secondary Schools Athletics

On March 14th, a group of our athletes competed in the Otago Secondary School Athletics Championships.

It was a productive day of competition with several notable results across the track and field events.

Mikayla Secord performed well in the High Jump, achieving a personal best to finish in 2nd place. On the track, Alena Cooney recorded a personal best time in the 1500m, finishing 2nd in a very close race. She also secured 2nd place in the 800m. Based on these results, Alena has qualified for the South Island Secondary School Athletics Championships in Christchurch later this month. We wish her the best for her upcoming races.

The remainder of our team were competing at the secondary school level for the first time and represented the school capably. Among them, Jeremy Wister reached the final of the 200m. Following his performance, Jeremy has expressed an interest in joining an athletics club to further develop his competitive experience.

Well done to all students who participated and contributed to the team’s efforts.
