Volleyball Otago Junior Champs

The Boys Junior A Volleyball team competed at the Otago Champs in Dunedin through the weekend (2nd – 3rd November).

On day one, we played against Kings, Otago Boys and Trinity. We secured a clean 2-0 win against Kings, fought hard but lost 2-0 against Otago Boys, and battled our way back from 1-0 down to beat Trinity in the third set at the end of the day. This final match was an important victory as it saw us through to the semifinals the following day.

On Sunday we played against old rivals John McGlashan. Taking a little too long to warm up, we lost 2-0, seeing us into the 3rd/4th playoff against St Kevins. Losing the first set, the boys battled hard, almost taking the second set after a comeback, but missing out 25-27 following a deuce.

A 4th place finish overall was the best result we’ve had in a while against some very strong teams. Everyone played so well and developed a lot in a short time. Congratulations to Levi Milner and Otto Morrison who were selected in the tournament team for outstanding performance in their positions. Next up: South Islands in Christchurch.
