During the April school holidays, Miseki Honjo was selected to participate in the New Zealand International Biology Olympiad training and selection camp, after her participation in the summer tutorial programme.
Throughout the 10 day residential camp, Miseki worked with NZIBO tutors and faculty of the University of Auckland – across the City, Grafton, and Leigh Marine campuses – partaking in labs, seminars, and fieldwork.
Two of her highlights were a university session on biostatistics and making observations in the Domain Wintergardens. The NZIBO camp is a highly selective programme aimed at fostering interest, participation, and excellence in biology and Miseki’s advancement to the camp stage earned her an NZIBO Silver Certificate.
Additionally, teacher Pru Casey accompanied the young biologists, as part of the NZIBO committee!
