Minnijean Brown visit to Dunedin

We had a wonderful opportunity to hear a very famous speaker from the American Civil Rights Movement who came to Dunedin on June 24th.

Over 60 students attended from our Year 11 History classes.

Minnijean Brown was one of the famous Little Rock Nine students, who spent a whole year in the public eye attempting to desegregate a high school in the South in the 1950s. She had a very eventful year and life after 1958. 600 students studying History at Year 11 in Dunedin were excited to hear her personal story and message first hand at Otago Girls High School hall.

In addition Mr Fielding had the pleasure of having dinner with the famous activist, during which much history was discussed.
