Mihi Whakatau

We welcomed all our new staff and students on Thursday 1 February.

We have lots of new Year 9 students as well as new students at all levels. We are excited about welcoming new students and staff to our wonderful whanau.

Our school kapa haka group were there to support Whaea Ange and the wider school to whakatau (welcome) our new members to Te Kura tuarua o Kapua o te Raki.

A whakatau is a form of welcome ceremony similar to a pōwhiri, but less formal and more flexible. It’s used in many different contexts and can be adapted to suit many types of occasion.
