Yes, March is the month of the French-speaking world and a chance to celebrate French language and culture (but also to reflect on the effects of colonisation).
LPHS was lucky to host an event on Saturday, the 15th of March where students had the chance to try out their French in many different contexts. After some whanaungatanga we went to the kitchen to bake and eat delicious crepes completes (with jambon, oeuf and fromage). Then we spent 90 minutes working with a French theatre group on lots of activities around theatre sports and improvisation – all in French!
Even though or maybe because our group was small everyone felt really happy to participate and was exposed to lots of French. At the end we went back to the kitchen and baked Madeleines – great team effort and again the importance of food in French culture was definitely shown.
Thank you to the Alliance Francaise for supporting such a cool event.
