On Saturday night the 25th of May, many LPHS students took part in the Dunedin Youth Orchestra’s end of semester concert.
They all did a fantastic job and it was a pleasure working with them throughout the semester.
The orchestra performed ‘The Land of the Mountain and the Flood’ by Hamish MacCunn, ‘Faust Overture’ by Emilie Mayer, ‘Clarinet Concerto No. 1 in F Minor’ by Weber, ‘Symphonic Dances Op. 64’ by Grieg as well as two pieces from the Opera Carmen (Aragonaise and Danse Bohème). Students played in various sections of the orchestra including performing solos, and Callum Fotheringham was featured as a prominent soloist throughout the programme receiving a special mention in the ODT review.
