Triathlon – Logan Park Takes on Challenge Wanaka

The stunning backdrop of Wanaka played host to a determined group of 13 Logan Park High School students on February 14th, as they tackled the renowned Challenge Wanaka Triathlon series.

The focus of their efforts was the Secondary School Triathlon, held on a sweltering Friday, where they showcased their athletic prowess.

Logan Park fielded four teams and one individual competitor, all eager to test their limits. The U19 athletes faced a demanding course: a 400m swim, a 20km bike ride, and a 4km run. The U14/U16 competitors tackled a 300m swim, a 10km bike ride, and a 3.5km run.

Amidst the fierce competition, Anna, Kate, and Lucy delivered an outstanding performance, securing 2nd place in the Otago Secondary U19 team event and an impressive 3rd place overall. The heat was intense, but every Logan Park student demonstrated unwavering dedication, pushing themselves to the finish line.   Students enjoyed the team environment supporting each other as they crossed the finish line.

‘The triathlon this year was awesome – I had so much fun getting to spend the day with friends and I can’t wait to do it again next year!’  – Kate Davey

The triathlon was an amazing experience that I wish I had done in my previous years at Logan Park. Last year I backed out because I was scared about the race, and worried about doing well. But being able to do it with two of my close friends took away the stress of having to do well and made me focus more on the fun side. Plus I got to meet all these very kind Logan Park students that I otherwise would have had nothing to do with, and hope to see them all doing it again next year. – Anna Goodin
