Climbing – Logan Park Shines at SISS Tournament

A group of adventurous Logan Park students travelled to Christchurch for the South Island Secondary Schools (SISS) Climbing Tournament, held at the Adventure Centre in Term Three.

Guided by the Dunedin Climbing Club’s Tim Bartholomew, students Georgie Winneke, Ari Nielsen, and Isaak Moser took on some of the best young climbers in the South Island.

For Georgia, a seasoned climber, this was her third time at the event. “I was in a girls’ team, and we had to climb 29 walls each day over two days,” she said. “The climbs varied in difficulty and were scored on a points system.” Her hard work paid off, with her team impressively securing a second-place finish. “The atmosphere was great with schools from all over the South Island attending. I can’t wait for next year,” she added.

This was a first-time experience for Ari, who competed in a boys’ team alongside Isaak. “Our team did pretty well. We came 5th in our heat out of 11, and it was lots of fun,” he shared. The tournament not only tested their physical strength and skill but also provided a fantastic opportunity for students to compete and connect with peers from different schools.

Well done to all our climbers on their fantastic effort!
