In a thrilling semi final clash, the Logan Park High School 1st XI football team earned their place in the Premier Secondary School Boys’ Football final with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Kings High School.
The team showed incredible resilience and determination, with the win being a stunning effort led by their Year 13 players: Issac Simons, Torsten Wilkinson, Daniel Blakeley, and Kāhu Edmond-Smaill.
The match was an exhilarating affair from the start. Kings opened the scoring within the first five minutes, but Logan Park quickly responded with the first of three goals from striker Torsten Wilkinson. Kings answered back, making the score 2-1, but Wilkinson soon netted a header, bringing the score to a stunning 2-2 just fifteen minutes into the game. Wilkinson then completed his hat trick five minutes before halftime, sliding the ball past the far post to give Logan Park a 3-2 lead.
The second half was a testament to Logan Park’s defensive strength. The team, anchored by the outstanding efforts of defender Daniel Blakeley, held their ground against a determined Kings side. With great defense across the board, they successfully protected their lead for the entire second half, securing their spot in the championship match.
Congratulations to the boys and Coach Ben O’Farrell on this fantastic achievement!
