To celebrate te wiki o te reo māori, we organised an inter-house kī o rahi tournament in September.
With straight finals, it was Clayton vs Omimi to start – a tough competition that saw Clayton come out on top. Aoraki vs Toroa was next. Unfortunately, Toroa had to default – meaning Aoraki went through to the Grand Final against Clayton.
Having not yet been seen on the field, Aoraki’s tactics were still a mystery to Clayton. A fierce competition ensued, both teams showing great promise and fighting until the end. Into the last minute, the ties were scored 10-10. The stakes were high. However, in the last 10 seconds, Clayton managed to secure one final point to tip the scores and take the victory.
Thank you to all the staff and students involved who made the event a success!
Kia kaha te ao māori!
