Our Student Sports Council have organised an Interhouse Dodgeball Competition. Houses are competing on Friday lunchtimes in the Gym, and so far there is a lot of enthusiastic fun-filled support.

120 student delegates from Otago and Southland schools met March 13-15th at Otago University to debate global issues of poverty, hunger, female empowerment and child mortality.

Our LPHS 1 team (Jacobi Kohu-Morris Y13, Grant McNaughton Y12 and Meran Campbell-Hood Y13) won the annual Russell McVeagh Debating Competition for the Otago-Southland region. The event was held on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th of March. 5 of the top 12 awards went to Logan Park speakers.

Year 12 student Tayla Ward has returned from competing for the New Zealand Womens Luge team at the World Cup in Austria, Germany and Italy during December 2014 and January 2015.

Board of Trustees Student Rep, Grant McNaughton, Year 12, won a Treasury Scholarship at the Sir Paul Callaghan National Eureka! Science Symposium in Wellington, late last year. In February he was invited to Wellington to discuss with senior government officials, ways to improve New Zealand's living standards.

On Monday, March 2nd, staff and students celebrated the outstanding academic achievements of students who achieved NCEA Excellence Endorsed Certificates at Levels 1, 2 and 3 as well as celebrating students who won national scholarships.

Head Boy Jacobi Kohu-Morris won the Otago-Southland final of the RSA Speech competition, in Gore, in February, and has won a trip to Gallipoli as his prize.

On the 14th-16th of December 2014 three Logan Park students embarked upon the New Zealand Secondary Schools Nationals (lawn bowls) held at the Howick Bowling Club in Auckland.

In February Year 12 student Tayla Ward returned from competing for the New Zealand Womens Luge team at the World Cup in Austria, Germany and Italy during December and January. Tayla won the individual junior womens division at the Austrian Cup in Judenburg.

Our afternoon tea to meet all the parents/whanau of new students was held on Wednesday 25th February in the Learning Centre. We were thrilled with the attendance and teachers, Group teachers and House Deans enjoyed the opportunity to discuss individual students and their interests with parents.

Congratulations to our fabulous NZQA Scholarship recipients. We got 17 scholarships across a range of subjects including Drama, English, Media Studies, History, Physics, Biology, Statistics and German.
