Our Shakespearean teams dominated the Otago Shakespeare competitions held at the end of Term 1. We won the Best Teacher Directed 15 minute piece as well as the Best Student Directed 5 minute scene and will represent Otago at the National Sheila Winn Festival over Queen's Birthday weekend in Wellington.

Top Otago basketballer, Jaren Roy (Year 12) was invited as one of 20 top basketballers to attend the 2015 U17 National Selection Camp, in Auckland, in April and to work towards the FIBA Oceania Championships later in the year.

A large group of students competed in the Otago Secondary Schools Sheila Winn Shakespeare Festival in the last week of term. They held a dress rehearsal on Monday 30 March in Manawa Toi Whakaari in front of a large and appreciative audience.

After Jacobi Kohu-Morris won the Otago-Southland final of the RSA Speech competition, in Gore in February, he presented his speech at Government House in Wellington on March 12.

Congratulations to Fraser Braid Year 11 and Caitlyn Kilner Year 12 who won the Silver Fleet section of the Sailing Competition in March. They had 18 races over 4 days with strong competition from other schools.

It was the start of Term 2, 2014 when our pocket bike kit finally arrived, but unfortunately there were no instructions. Therefore we were two men on a mission to fully design and build the best (and only) bike ever created (in the LPHS metal workshop).

108 students have enrolled and commenced their course of lessons in a musical instrument for this year. Thats a significant percentage of the overall school roll, and a smart move on the part of the students and their parents.
