One of our senior film teams, "Woof Bloody Woof" have won national attention by winning the Rialto Channel Rising Talent award for their short film, Survivor Guilt, at the national finals of the 48hour film-making competitions announced in Auckland in July.

Congratulations to our Senior Boys Badminton team who are the Dunedin Champions after winning a nail-bitingly close final against John McGlashan College, having previously beaten King's in the semi-final and dominating for 10 weeks in the local schools' competition.

Our Senior Prefects and House Prefects worked with Ms Johnson to organise a special Arts assembly, in the last week of Term 2 focusing on reinforcing the message of respecting our beautiful environment.

It was a cold and rainy Thursday and I had been looking forward to this day for weeks. Instead of going to my regular Environmental Studies class, I went to the Whanau room to meet my teacher Tip, some students from Polytech and eight other pupils from my Outdoor Education class.

Our Head of Humanities, Paul Enright and Lara Hearn-Rollo, Head of History at Queens High School are continuing the work they began last year with the Ministry of Education developing national History resources to allow Maori history to be taught from a Maori perspective in New Zealand schools.

Approximately twenty International students from Japan, Germany, Vietnam and Austria were looking forward to seeing some fluffy little penguins - live.After driving through curvy roads and experiencing a beautiful view along the coast, we arrived at the delightful spot - the Otago Peninsula, right on Taiaroa Head.

The annual International Concert in June was a wonderful must-see experience. Over 30 students from a range of countries performed. Everyone practised, sweated and almost lost their hope, but in the end everything was great. Because the students had so much fun, the audience also had fun.

Both Year 11 classes have recently completed an enjoyable Hospitality unit where they selected and trialled a variety of hot finger-foods suitable for functions.

Jasper Holloway, of our rock band Sycamore won the Apra Lyric Award for best lyrics at the Smokefree Rockquest Otago regional finals in June. Sycamore was placed second in the band category. Oliver Robson (bass), Jasper Holloway (lead guitar) and Rani Cohen (drums) impressed with their musicianship and originality.

A Kiwi experience is about to draw to a close for a group of our international students. The 12 students, from Austria and Germany, will be returning to high school in their own countries having spent between three months and one year at Logan Park.
