Josephine Devereux won First Place in the Dunedin Young Adults section of the Moon Festival Poetry competition, organised by the Dunedin City Council. She was presented with her prize at the Awards Ceremony in October.

A copy of her poem appears below.

Irradiation

pale skeins blush the marble rocks
as the moon peers out over clustered clouds
breathing life into glinting streams
ghosting ivory on huddled hills
flooding the gully once a night-
cold world lit by lonely light.
