We hosted the Otago-Southland Nga Manu Korero speaking competition here at Logan Park on June 12.
Matua Tip Winiata and his talented team of student helpers extended very warm hospitality for several hundred students, their teachers and whanau from throughout the region. Representatives from all of the schools competed in Maori and English, presenting both prepared and impromptu speeches. In the Maori section, Year 12 student Manakore Rickus-Graham was placed third overall, and Head Boy, Jacobi Kohu-Morris was placed third overall in the English section. Thanks to Tip for the enormous effort in planning, organising and hosting the successful event.
