Another very good year for boys' badminton at Logan Park with two teams playing on Wednesdays after school at Badminton Hall.
Our A team was initially put in section one which was very tough going. Once in section two they performed well, winning most matches. We lacked a genuine strong number one as all our players were similar in ability. David Morrarty, newly arrived from OBHS, often offered to play at number one which enabled Edan Feint and Peter Molteno to be strong number two and threes. Fourth position was shared between Dylan Deans-Barrett, Miro McCaw and Ryan Ong. Next year we hope one or two of the internationals will play to strengthen the team.
The B team made it all the way to the final in their grade annd completed an excellent year. The final was lost to a deserving OBHS team, with some players away and/or playing for the A team, so we had our weakest side for that particular game. As always David Spencer was at his energetic and competitive best. Oliver Molteno showed good skills, especially with service. Jack Bloomfield as a Year 13 provided great height advantage to good effect. And whenever Dylan Deans-Barrett was available if not needed for the A team, that guaranteed a win for the whole team as he easily completed an unbeaten run at number one.
