Hana Fahy and I took 64 students on a Music Camp at Tirohanga on the weekend of 6-8 March.
It was a great time, despite the weather, which nobody really noticed. Over the weekend we had rehearsals of the school choir, orchestra and jazz band, and as a result all three groups have started the year enthusiastically, and are already making exciting music. On the Saturday night we held an informal concert and I can assure you that the talent was unbelievable. (Year 9 student Emmanuel Wong enthralled us all with an exceptional performance on the piano). After the show the wonderful Josh Grills started up a jam session, so everybody was dancing or playing for quite some time.
An acknowledged highlight of the Music camps is the wonderful food and my sincere thanks go to Kristen Gillespie and her strikingly talented and good-looking team of helpers. Also thanks to Holger Regenbrecht for the photos.
