Futsal at Logan Park has yet again been a huge success over Term One and Two and a huge thanks goes out to all those parents and staff members who have offered their support and encouragement along the way.
There are two different competitions that run over the course of the year, the first of which is in the first term, and the second in the fourth term. We had six junior teams, two girls’ teams and four boys’ teams. Our top Year 9 boys team, coached by the enthusiastic Mary Yeardley, did well to place third in their competition and our top Year 10 girls team also placed third in their competition.
In terms of placings, our seniors took the cake. Our senior girls team won their division, and so did our Year 12 boys team, with the Year 13 boys coming in two places behind them. Our other senior boys team, made up of Year 11 and international students, placed a very well deserved second.
Logan Park also entered seven teams into the regional futsal competition at the Dunedin Edgar centre. Our senior boys had probably the most success, coming second in the top division, losing in the final to Kavanagh, the national futsal champions. It was a very enjoyable day with many ups and downs. Thank you again to all those involved.
