Representative News

Handball Representatives

The NZ Youth Handball Team will make history this year by being the first NZ team to ever attend the Handball World Championships, held in Croatia in August.

Our very own John Barham and 2022 ex students Ethan Dalwood and Yannick Medvecky-Wolkenhauer are in this team.

John, Ethan and Yannick have played Handball for Logan Park since Yr 9. In recent years, they have all given back to the development of Handball as a new Sport in NZ, coaching our Junior teams for the past two years. We are super excited and wish them all the best!

Hockey Representatives

Kieran Black and Solly Armstrong have been selected for the Hockey U18 Mens Otago A team.

Volleyball Representatives

Lily Abbott was selected for the U19 Otago Volleyball team. She recently attended the Nationals in Napier with the U19's.

Ice Hockey Representatives

Wyatt Meade and Alby Kaminszky play for the Junior Thunder U18 Representative team. They compete nationally.

Cross Country Successes

In May Logan Park entered two mixed teams in the Otago/Southland Relay Race held in Milton. Aedan Lehr, Lauren Davey, Bianca Van Der Haegen and Fynn Jackson came 1st place in the Senior Mixed race.

At the Otago Champs Fynn Jackson came 2nd place in Senior Boys, with Lauren Davey placing 3rd in Senior Girls.

Winter Sports Round Up

Logan Park 1st XI Senior Boys Football team has had a great start to the Secondary School competition. At the end of the first round we have made it through to the top four for the Senior Premier grade. The boys will attend the Linwood Tournament in Dunedin during Winter sports week.

The 1st XI girls team is also in a Premier grade this year and will travel to Timaru for the Lotto Football Tournament.

We have depth in both girls and boys football with a number of junior teams competing in the league.

Across all Winter sports we have excellent participation levels.

Basketball on a Friday night has around 100 students playing. From Competitive to Social teams, Basketball is a real highlight. Everyday the gym has enthusiastic players shooting hoops.

The Badminton season is coming to an end early in Term 3. We have had both Competitive options and Social options. For the first time we have had social after school Badminton on a Tuesday.

Hockey has four teams, two boys and two girls teams. The 1st XI boys and girls teams are looking forward to traveling to Greymouth in late August to compete in Winter Tournament Week.

Netball, Rugby and Ice Hockey codes are played with real enthusiasm. Girls Rugby has had some big wins and some challenging games. All players are developing well as a unit.

We have some wonderful community and staff Coaches who are making a real difference to the Logan Park Student sports community. A big thank you to you all.

In a moving tribute to our much loved Co Principal, Logan Park Sports teams acknowledged Kristan Mouat's passing by holding a minute's silence before each game and wearing black arm bands. The photo below shows the 1st XI boys football team, joined by John McGlashan College.
