Congratulations to our 2 teams who performed in the regional Shakespeare festival in April and won awards at the nationals in June
We won the Otago regional Best Teacher Directed 15 Minute Scene with our hilarious 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' extract. Well done to all the team and to Director Shannon Colbert.
Jimmy Muir won the regional Outstanding Stage Performance Award. Rowan Metreyeon won a regional Notable Performance Award. Our 5 minute student directed piece was also mature, entertaining and engaging.
Our A Midsummer Night's team then attended the national Sheilah Winn festival over King's Birthday weekend.
As well as enjoying workshops and the chance to connect with other enthusiastic thespians from throughout New Zealand, they had considerable success including winning:
Outstanding Presentation of a Comedy
Best Communication with the audience award
Best Connection with the audience award
Jimmy Muir won Outstanding individual comic role award
and Jimmy won NSSP Selector Special Award for Professional Excellence - this means he will go to the next stage - NSSP where they then consider who to take to the Globe in London.
The team have also been invited to perform at the University of Otago Allen Hall later this term.
