Logan Park volleyball is in an exciting development phase. We had two Junior teams attend the Otago Junior Championships.
Junior A Girls
The girls played outstanding. Carli Richter their coach has significantly developed the girls as players this year. They were third in their pool matches beating Otago Girls A, Columba B and Queens 9A. In the semi finals we played Taieri A. The match was incredibly close. Taieri took the first set, Logan Park took the second set. The third set was incredibly close and it was hard to pick who would win. In the end Taieri won the third set 25-23. Our players all improved over the three days. This improvement has been evident in their serving, work at the net and general all round understanding of the game.
The following is written by Danielle Frost who stepped up to coach the boys this Term. Under her expert care the boys have really developed as a team and in their skills.
The Otago Volleyball Championships was the first tournament of the year for the Junior Boys team, and they really stepped up, and learnt a lot about how a tournament runs, refereeing and score bench responsibilities. It was fantastic to see them improve over the tournament and over the season. The games were challenging. All game scores were extremely close, and they won the odd set, taking a set from a team who finished 3rd. They won their last game which was a fantastic end to the tournament and left us all buzzing. It has been a real pleasure to coach this amazing, fun and enthusiastic bunch!
