Hockey Girls had a Blast on Tournament

During tournament week in Term Three our girls first XI hockey team set off to Invercargill to take part in the Jenny MacDonald Cup.

We left on the Sunday afternoon and arrived in a slightly creepy old camp straight out of the 60’s where we stayed with the boys first XI football team for the week. We played amazingly in all of our games and did better than this team has done for the past few years. We had an exciting win in our third game and also had a nerve racking time battling out a very close semi-final which ended in a shootout to break the tie (which we narrowly missed out on).

We did so well as a team, all worked very hard, ate a lot of post-game muffins, and had a fun time playing games on and off the turf.

During our down time we went to support the boys at their games, played many rounds of competitive card games, and the year 11s and 12s even tried to study for mocks (without success).

Next year the team will be the same as we don’t have any current year 13’s in it so we hope to create a closer bond to strengthen our teamwork (and practice our shootouts!). Awesome work you guys!
