In an effort to blend life skills and customer service with something new, Logan Park has introduced a unique initiative: a coffee class for students during their study periods.
This hands-on class not only offers a welcome break for students from their usual classes but aims to equip students with practical skills in coffee preparation and customer service.
Led by Mrs Craik and Ms Whalan, the class covers everything from the origins of coffee and ethical sourcing to the art of making the perfect espresso, latte art techniques, and maintaining equipment. Students get to experiment with grinders, espresso machines, and milk frothers, gaining real-world skills in an enjoyable and social setting which is proving very beneficial to them, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Many describe the class as a refreshing way to reset their minds and learn something new and creative that they can apply in the real world. For some, it’s even sparked an interest in hospitality and entrepreneurship.
With its mix of practical learning, creative expression, and community spirit, the coffee class is quickly increasing in its popularity. Staff are receiving coffees made by students in a real life setting and students are gaining valuable feedback and experience in its place. As one student put it: “It’s the best part of my week—good vibes, good coffee, and a chance to learn something new.”
Well done to everyone involved and we look forward to seeing what they can all continue to achieve moving forward.
