Chamber Music Contest

Logan Park has had great success in the Chamber Music Contest this year! The contest was held over a Tuesday and Wednesday at Hanover Hall and included a range of groups from across Otago.

The Loganberries were again the overall winners for Otago!

This group includes: Ozan Biner-McGrath (piano), Savarna Yang (violin) and Karuna Yang (flute)

Make Some Moyse got a highly commended awards and KBB Music Award (awarded to a group with 1+ woodwind instrument)

This group includes: Ava van Asten (flute), Karuna Yang (flute), Emily Fotheringham (flute) and Ken Nguyen (piano)

LPHS Eloise Beattie was also in a multi-school group that got a highly commended award. There were also quite a few other LPHS students in multi-school groups.

The Loganberries, due to winning the district round, got to go to the southern regional finals in Christchurch later in the year!

4 district winners from around the South Island then go to this regional final to represent their region.

In other GREAT news – Make Some Moyse were selected on merit to ALSO take part in the southern regional final. Therefore this group also got to go to Christchurch to represent Otago.

After the 4 district winning groups, up to only 8 groups are selected from the South Island to take part in the regional finals.

It is very impressive to have two groups from Dunedin going to the regionals, and these being the only two fully LPHS groups to enter the contest this year. Amazing dedication by these students who have practiced very hard over the past few months.
