Celebrating International Women’s Day

On Friday 6th March, Ms. Sangster, Maddie, Kate, Lucy and Emily had the pleasure of attending a special International Women’s Day breakfast held at the Stadium.

The event brought together women from secondary schools across Dunedin, alongside representatives from the University of Otago, to celebrate leadership, community, and the power of supporting one another.

This year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” focused on the idea that when we contribute to our communities and support others, we all benefit. The group heard an inspiring presentation from Jackie Bannon of the Dunedin Bowling Club, who shared the remarkable work being done to produce affordable kai for thousands of people across Dunedin each week. Jackie’s story highlighted the impact that community collaboration, generosity, and determination can have in supporting those who need it most.

The morning also provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with students and women from across the city who are making a difference in their communities. Of course, the delicious breakfast provided by The Perc was another highlight of the event.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Graduate Women Otago for their kind invitation and continued support in providing opportunities for young women to engage with inspiring leaders and important community initiatives.
