Celebrating Culture and Connection

Our Heritage Languages and Cultures – Whānau Evening was a vibrant celebration of language, identity, and community.

Students, families, and staff came together to share the rich cultural knowledge and traditions that shape who we are.

The evening featured student presentations on Indigenous knowledge, heartfelt reflections on heritage languages, and powerful performances, including traditional songs and dances. Greetings were exchanged in a variety of languages, including Samoan, Tongan, Fijian, Tuvaluan, Arabic, Sri Lankan, Indian, Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, reminding us of the linguistic and cultural diversity that exists in our community.

Guests enjoyed displays of traditional clothing, cultural artefacts, and stories from across generations. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with food, laughter, and meaningful conversations bringing people together in a spirit of unity and pride.

A big thank you to our students for their thoughtful presentations, to families for their support, and to everyone who helped make this special evening a success. Events like this help us honour the value of heritage languages and celebrate the cultural roots that make our school community unique.
