The results of the annual Tūhura Photography Competition are in…
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the success of three talented Logan Park High School students who have made a powerful impression at this year’s Tūhura Otago Museum Photography Competition.
Sam McGee has been named Photographer of the Year, taking out the top prize across all age groups with a stunning image that wowed judges with its technical excellence and emotional depth. His work was praised for its striking composition and thought-provoking narrative, reflecting a maturity well beyond his years.
Sam’s younger brother, Monty McGee, also earned major recognition—being awarded Runner-Up in the Youth Category. Monty’s piece stood out for its originality and creativity, showcasing the strong visual voice emerging from this talented whānau.
Adding to this incredible result, Jordan Turner was selected for the Otago Daily Times Editor’s Choice Award, a special recognition highlighting the compelling storytelling in his work. Jordan’s photo captured a unique perspective that resonated with public audiences and media professionals alike.
The Tūhura competition draws hundreds of entries from across the region, and it’s a testament to the creativity, vision, and dedication of these students that they’ve achieved such success on this stage.
We are delighted to see their passion for photography—and the arts more broadly—being recognised at this level. Ka rawe, Sam, Monty, and Jordan. We’re so proud of you!
