This year was our last year of playing badminton for Logan Park.
We started playing socially in year 9 as a way of connecting and having fun in a low stakes environment. As we got older we realised that there is more to the game. We built connections with other players on our team. People that we might not generally talk to because they are different year levels than us.
We learned to analyze the other teams players, we learned skills on how to defend and attack based on the analysis we have made.
Last year we won first place in our division and this year we have placed in the top 4. Badminton has been a great experience for both of us and has been a worthwhile part of our Logan Park experience.
Badminton continues to be one of the most popular sports among our female students at Logan Park High School, and the 2025 season was a fantastic display of participation, development, and team spirit!
This year saw a wonderful turnout, with 38 girls taking to the courts. This level of interest allowed us to field a strong contingent across both the competitive and social leagues:
-
Competitive Grade: 4 Teams
-
Social Grade: 3 Teams
The success of the season wasn’t just measured by wins, but by the commitment and growth shown by every player. As senior players Prachi and Poppy noted in their reflections, badminton is a sport where players can truly grow and develop skills over their five years of secondary school. It is a fantastic opportunity for students to improve their agility, focus, and hand-eye coordination in a supportive environment.
A Huge Thank You to Our Coaches
A sport thrives on dedication, and the Girls Badminton programme benefited immensely from the commitment of our coaches and supporters.
A massive thank you is due to Heike Cabulla-Elder and Maddy Campbell for their invaluable time, expertise, and positive encouragement throughout the season. Their dedication ensured that every girl felt supported, whether they were competing for the top spot or enjoying a casual social game.
Congratulations to all 38 girls on a brilliant 2025 season!
