Michael Davies

Role: Presiding Member
Connection to LPHS: Alumnus and Parent of three

I am a former Logan Park High School student and a father of three, with our eldest currently attending LPHS and our younger children not far behind. Having experienced the school as both a student and a parent, I deeply value the opportunity to give back to the community that played such an pivotal role in my own education.

Now in my second term on the Board of Trustees, I have had the privilege of contributing to the school’s governance through periods of both challenge and growth. My professional background is in technology, with over 15 years of experience building and managing IT systems. However, my time on the Board has significantly broadened my perspective and deepened my understanding of educational governance.

I bring a pragmatic, analytical, and research-informed approach to problem-solving, while always prioritizing communication, compassion, and listening to diverse viewpoints. My focus remains firmly on what best serves our students, staff, and the wider Logan Park community to ensure our school remains a place where young people receive a well-rounded, future-focused education.

Kelly Macknight

Role: Board Trustee
Connection to LPHS: Parent of current student

Kelly brings significant experience in leadership to her role on the LPHS Board of Trustees. She is the Founder/General Manager of Be Heard Children’s Counselling Trust and a Founding Director of MREMG Ltd. She spent many years as part of the senior leadership team of a global technology company prior to these roles. Kelly spent a term on the Balmacewen Board of Trustees and has been heavily involved with school environments for several years. Her governance training through the Institute of Directors and her volunteer Trustee roles mean she has an excellent understanding of what works for Boards.

Luke Morrison

Role: Board Trustee
Connection to LPHS: Parent of two current students

Kia ora koutou. Along with my wife Silke, I am the proud parent of two Logan Park students. Our boys are thriving in the diverse, inclusive, and welcoming environment that Logan Park provides, benefiting from both an excellent academic education and a rich variety of extra-curricular activities.

As a Board member, my goal is to support our teachers and senior management team in maintaining an environment that celebrates achievement while fostering the vital social and life skills our young people need for the future. Throughout my time as an LPHS parent, I have been incredibly impressed by the dedication and care shown by our staff, both inside and outside the classroom.

My background includes training and practicing as a lawyer, working as an HR manager, and spending the last eight and a half years as a College Warden for the University of Otago residential colleges. In my current role, I manage large budgets, oversee complex facilities, and work closely with young adults who have just emerged from the high school system. I look forward to using these skills to ensure Logan Park students are exceptionally well-prepared for the next stage of their lives, whatever path they choose.

Rebecca Swindells

Logan Park holds a very special place in my heart as a former student and Deputy Head Girl. Today, I am a mother of three, with my eldest, David, having recently begun his own journey at the school. I feel incredibly privileged to serve on the Board of Trustees, combining my deep personal connection to the kura with my passion for whānau success and education.

I have spent much of my professional career working in Māori education leadership and have served on other school boards, which has given me a strong foundation in governance, strategic planning, and advocating for equitable outcomes. As a Board member, I am dedicated to fostering a school environment where every student feels seen, valued, and supported academically, socially, and culturally.

My focus on the Board is to help strengthen the bridge between whānau and kura, champion Māori success, and ensure our systems and strategic direction meaningfully reflect Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Logan Park helped shape who I am, and I am honoured to give back to the school community that gave me so much.

Darryl Sycamore

Role: Board Trustee
Connection to LPHS: Parent of current student

Darryl brings a range of governance experience to the Board, including previous roles as chair on the Arthur Street School board and the NZ Planning Institute (Otago). He is the chairman of the Guardians of Lakes Manapouri, Monowai and Te Anau, and has been on the Guardians for fifteen years. Darryl is employed by Terramark as their Planning Manager. He is a strategic planning professional with a demonstrated history of working in local government and non-government organisations and is experienced in mediation and appeal resolution. He has a strong belief in adopting plain language so communication and reporting documents can be better understood and applied by all within our community. I am deeply committed to authenticity representing all students and their families.

Rosa Barsby

Role: Student Representative
Connection to LPHS: Current Student

As a current Year 13 student at Logan Park High School, I am honoured to have the position of Student Representative on the LPHS Board of Trustees. I have been actively involved in a range of school groups at both Logan Park and my former high school, including the Student Council, Enviroschools, and Amnesty International. However, serving on the Board is a very new and valuable experience for me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the governance of the school while also gaining an understanding of how the school runs. Outside of school, I have a strong interest in the arts and enjoy spending much of my time creating, particularly in making jewellery and clothes. As well as this, I am interested in languages, history and english, which are areas I hope to continue studying in the future.
