A word from Geordie as Maths prefect.
As a Maths Prefect, I’m excited to share some of the great events coming up in Term Three—especially this year’s O’Mathalons!
There are two interschool O’Mathalons: the Junior and the Senior. The Junior O’Mathalon is the classic format—teams of four (three mathematicians and a runner) competing in a fast-paced problem-solving race. It takes place on August 21st. The Senior O’Mathalon, held on August 14th, is more like a maths-themed pub quiz—no running, just sharp thinking and teamwork.
If you’re keen to take part—or have a group of friends ready to form a team—talk to your maths teacher or Mr. Norton.
There’s also the Interhouse O’Mathalon, where you can earn points for your house. If that sounds like you, get in touch with your dean.
Lastly, for anyone needing extra support (whether you’re aiming for UE or Excellence Endorsement), the Maths Department runs help sessions every Tuesday lunchtime. Maths Prefects will be there to support you in reaching whatever goal you’re working towards.
