Course Structure

Logan Park has an outstanding academic reputation across a wide range of subjects. In New Zealand’s premier academic exams, Scholarship, our students continue a 25 year tradition of excellent academic performance at the highest level. Each year, Logan Park graduates collectively win hundreds of thousands of dollars in university scholarships.

JUNIOR COURSE STRUCTURE

Students in Years 9 & 10 study subjects from the eight essential learning areas as described in the New Zealand Curriculum Framework. These areas are: English, The Arts, Health and Physical Education, Learning Languages, Mathematics and Statistics, Science, Social Sciences and Technology.  

ALL YEAR 9 & 10 STUDENTS STUDY A CORE OF:

  • English
  • Science
  • Mathematics
  • Social Studies
  • Health and Physical Education 

Optional Subjects:

In addition to the core subjects above, students choose Option subjects.  In Year 9 students choose six Optional subjects and each subject is for a half-year, except for Languages which are for the full year and count as two option choices.  In Year 10 students choose three Optional subjects and each subject is for the full year.
